To Know About Titanium Tube
Titanium tube has the advantages of light weight, high strength and superior mechanical properties. It is widely used in heat exchange equipment, such as tubular heat exchanger, coil heat exchanger, serpentine tube heat exchanger, condenser, evaporator and conveying pipeline. Many nuclear power plants use titanium tube as the standard tube for their units.
High Strength
Tensile strength of titanium alloy reaches 686–1176 MPa, with density only ~60% of steel — delivering exceptional specific strength.
Superior Corrosion Resistance
Forms a thin, dense oxide film rapidly below 550°C, outperforming most stainless steels in atmosphere, seawater, nitric acid, sulfuric acid, and strong alkali.
Biocompatible
Fully tolerated by the human body and nonmagnetic — an increasingly critical property as MRI usage grows in medical diagnostics.
The hardness of titanium alloy (annealed) is HRC 32–38. Just as there are different grades of stainless steel and copper, titanium tube comes in many grades to suit different applications.
📋 ASTM Standards for Titanium Grades
ASTM provides a variety of standards relating to the "recipes" for titanium grades used in different applications, including:
- ASTM B338 / ASME SB338
- ASTM B265 / ASME SB265
- ASTM B348 / ASME SB348
- ASTM B381 / ASME SB381
